The .mn registration service is provided by Datacom, a leading provider of online integration solutions, based in the USA. This domain name is composed of the consonants in the first syllable of the country name, Mongolia. The .mn domain registry was established in April 1997. The .mn extension is the internet country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) assigned to Mongolia.
One of the newest domain names on the internet, .mn is an unrestricted and largely unexploited domain name space on the internet. Some of its second level domains are the following.
- .gov.mn — this domain is used by the government departments, institutions and organizations

The .mn registration process also entails some terms and conditions. Primarily, all domain names are registered for a limited period of time. The registrant has the right of first refusal of registration renewal of that domain name in the absence of any legal registration. This right expires thirty days after the last day of registration activation.
Secondly, the agreement between the registry and the registrar will remain in full force during the length of the term of the domain name registration as selected, paid and recorded. If you want to transfer the domain name to another registrar, the terms and conditions of the contract shall be considered terminated.
The U.S. state of Minnesota also makes limited use of the domain extension .mn in some of its web addresses.
